A few posts down, I remarked on the state of my pantry vs refrigerator. It went something like "omgomgomg my pantry is bare and my fridge is bursting at the seams!" I added a picture for reference.
As you can see, it's vegetable, tofu, and Tupperware Tetris in there. Or at least it was.
What made it all even more "fun" was the water slowly filling my vegetable crispers every day. It came from the freezer area, dripped down every shelf, and was pooling in the crispers. Not having defrosted or otherwise maintained a fridge before, I kept putting off any really work and just kept mopping up everything.
Last week, though, I'd had enough. I was losing perishables because of the insane amount of moisture--not to mention anything cardboard that was falling to pieces just from sitting on a shelf. I packed everything I could into the two little Styrofoam coolers we have around and bugged my father probably four times over the next hour to make sure I wasn't breaking anything.
After a few hours of putting warm bowls of water in the freezer (the drain for condensation was 150% frozen, all the way down the back wall of the fridge) everything finally drained out. Razi and I then spent the next 3 hours or so just removing parts and scrubbing scrubbing scrubbing. Rather, I scrubbed and Razi commandeered my crisper trays and a screwdriver so he could "fix" the "cars."
Anyways, my refrigerator now looks a little more...I don't know, awesome? Clean? Zen? My vegetables have a much longer shelf life, I can tell you that! I was able to separate them into drier veggies (on the left, in the crisper lined with a paper bag) and humid veggies (the ones needing to maintain moisture levels.)
I know it's a silly little thing to blog about, but it's the silly little things that make me happy.
I realized a few months ago that my kids would eat nothing but junk food; the closest "real" foods they consumed were pop-tarts and cheap chicken nuggets.
It was obvious where they were picking this up, so I've been trying to set better habits for all of us.
Watching my children exhibit horrible behavior opened my eyes to my own habits and what lessons I am teaching the kids about living.
I decided quickly that things needed to change-- significantly.

That's cool! I like my fridge the same way! Those little things really do help.
Things like that make me happy as well. I totally understand your enthusiasm.
Like your new layout!
@Sean Totally, right? Now if I could get the big things, too. xD
@Nic Thanks, I think it fits the blog a lot better!
